Our vision is a place where everyone has a decent place to live. That may sound like an audacious goal, but thanks to caring partners like you, and by the grace of God, we are making great strides building alongside families who are working hard to secure their own futures and who come to us for a hand up, not a hand out.
Habitat families are outstanding. Becoming a Habitat homeowner requires a tremendous investment of time and resources, not to mention the level of commitment required to volunteer 300 hours of sweat equity after a hard day's work. Their hard work and partnership with Habitat are helping them achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and their families.
Since 1988, Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity has worked with volunteers and partners to build 157 new homes in our community for hard working, low wage earning families. Along the way, we are improving neighborhoods and building communities of hope. Home ownership is a proven way to move families out of poverty. Helping a family move out of substandard housing has immediate impact on their health outcomes, educational attainment for children, and financial stability; but, the long term impact affects us all. We all benefit from safer, more attractive neighborhoods and an increase in the tax base. A Habitat home is not just a house, it's a catalyst for change.
Together, we can changes lives. Your gift today will help fulfill the dream of home ownership for a family in our community and brings all of us closer to eradicating poverty in Cumberland County. Every gift, no matter what the amount is, plays a critical role in the construction of a Habitat home.
